In a parish there is an old lady called a wihel mother who has been long ago. The mother has three children; two daughters and a son. Two of his daughters are married, and live with their husbands and far enough away from their home parish. The son lives with his mother. It is she who nourishes the mother and their survival. Since abandoned by the father, the three children of wihel mother only received education in elementary school. Understandably they are just poor peasant families.
Mother wihel with her son is a Christian (Catholic) who diligently worship and contribute to the church. One thing that holds this family life is; that they are happy to have Jesus as their Savior. In the midst of their misery, they remain faithful and believe in Jesus' help.
One day before the night, suddenly heavy rain accompanied by strong wind. The house of a wihel mother with a reed roof and bamboo walls fell instantly. That night temporarily wihel mother and son stayed in one of the neighbor's houses that night. The next day the son of wihel mother was helped by some neighbors repairing the house that last night collapsed. In his prayer Wihel's mother was grateful that she was still given a chance to live even though her house collapsed; and thanked Jesus for his help through a neighbor who helped improve his home.
*** The story of Wihel's mother is a real event that occurred in my parish (pota). I raised this story to remind the brothers and sisters that sometimes the Church stands only as a spectator who witnesses the suffering of their people. ***
Pray always for our Church to be visibly aware of the suffering of its people.
